BOWLING GREEN HUMANE SOCIETY GETS NEW WEBSITE
SIS Media Group Saw a Need and Filled It

Bowling Green, KY — The Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society now has a website, thanks to the generosity of a local business. The Society, which operates strictly on donations, was out of funds and out of space. Shawn Lindsey, owner of SIS Media Group of Bowling Green, heard that the shelter was forced to put down 450 animals in one month, and was moved to do something about it.

"My wife and I really hated to see animals being put down for lack of space. We wanted to do something to make it better for them," Lindsey explained. His firm, a local internet marketing and technology company which provides web design and internet services to clients around the world, approached the Society with an offer to design a website for free.

The purpose of the new site is to broaden local awareness of the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society and make it easier for people to donate as well as to check out animals currently up for adoption. With no money for marketing, the shelter was struggling to carry out its mission of providing for the animals that came through its doors. 

"We are so grateful to Shawn," says Deana Wehr. "Just out of the blue he came to us and asked whether he could help, and the new site is awesome. I know that people have looked for us online before but we just couldn't afford to have a site designed. This is great." Deana anticipates that the added exposure will reduce the number of animals the Society is forced to put down every month. "It is heartbreaking to be in the business of saving animals and yet be forced to make tough choices every day."

In a coordinated effort to provide as much functionality and exposure as possible, SIS Media Group designed a new website from scratch that showcases the Society's mission and allows visitors to quickly explore the adoption possibilities. A photo and video gallery showcases animals in need of homes. Visitors who wish to support the shelter's mission without adopting a pet can donate through the site, and keep up with Humane Society news by friending it on FaceBook and MySpace. 

"You really can't be successful online anymore without a smart site that ties into all these other media," Lindsey says. "We wanted to make sure the Humane Society got as much attention as we could manage."

The new site would have cost the Humane Society around $1,800 to purchase, but Lindsey says he was glad to donate it. "We are very active in the community, and even though we have offices in New York and deal with international clients, our roots are here. We also do a lot of work for small and local businesses, and this is our way of giving back to our hometown."
